Blythe Family Faces New Challenges as Twin Daughters Return to Hospital

Just when life seemed to be settling into a new rhythm, the Blythe family from Oneonta, Alabama, is facing another heartbreaking setback. After spending months in the hospital with their premature twins, Zach and Alyson Blythe had finally brought their babies home โ only to find themselves back at Childrenโs of Alabama just weeks later.

Born in mid-December, twins Baylor and Zoey arrived far earlier than expected. Baylor weighed just 1 pound, 15 ounces, while her sister Zoey weighed 1 pound, 8 ounces. The first months of their lives were spent in the neonatal intensive care unit, where both girls endured numerous medical challenges. Baylor struggled with digestive complications, while Zoey required a shunt to help manage fluid in her brain.

After enduring countless procedures, sleepless nights, and the constant beeping of hospital monitors, the Blythes finally experienced the joy of bringing their daughters home about a month ago. It was a moment filled with relief, gratitude, and hope for a more stable future.
But on June 5th, that hope was tested again. Baylor began having difficulty with her oxygen levels and was readmitted to the hospital. Though she was released two days later, the relief was short-lived. Shortly after arriving home, Alyson discovered Baylor unresponsive in her car seat. Acting quickly, she rushed to her husband, and Zach began CPR while waiting for emergency responders. Baylor was soon transported back to Childrenโs of Alabama.

Doctors diagnosed Baylor with several serious infections, including strep A in her bloodstream, as well as rhinovirus, enterovirus, and bronchiolitis. There were also concerns about possible pneumonia, meningitis, and a severe intestinal condition known as NEC. She is now receiving intensive care, including antibiotics and treatments to help her body recover.

As if that werenโt enough, the family faced more difficult news. On Monday morning, Alyson shared that Zoey had also been admitted back into the hospital due to low oxygen levels. She, too, is battling rhinovirus and enterovirus. Both girls remain under close medical supervision as doctors work to stabilize their conditions.
Throughout their journey, Zach and Alyson have shown extraordinary strength and openness in sharing their story. Their hope has been that others might find comfort or courage in knowing they are not alone in their struggles. Friends, neighbors, and community members have rallied around the family with prayers, encouragement, and support.

As the twins approach their six-month milestone, the Blythe family continues to fight alongside them, holding on to faith and resilience. Baylor and Zoey have already proven to be remarkable fighters, overcoming challenges that few could imagine.
