Pregnant Woman Discovers Her Dog’s Strange Behavior Was a Life Saving Warning for Mother and Child

When Alhanna Butler and her fiancé, Ricky, from South Yorkshire, England, knew they were expecting their first child, they were thrilled. However, their pet dog Keola didn’t feel the same way. At first, Alhanna ignored the animal’s unusual behavior, until she learned the real reason behind it.

It is known that Alhanna and her fiancé had been looking forward to this child for a long time and they were immersed in endless happiness when they found out that Alhanna was pregnant. However, from that moment on, the dog Keola began to behave differently. Keola regularly poked, whined softly, and sniffed Alhanna’s stomach every few hours. Every once in a while, Keola took advantage of lying close to her owner.

Of course, Alhanna had no idea what her dog was sensing. But because she was busy with pregnancy and preparing for the birth of the child, she overlooked the animal’s behavior. She could not realize that Keola was trying to alert her to something very important.

Alhanna quite enjoyed her pregnancy. Even so, she gradually found it difficult to ignore Keola’s persistent behavior. Ricky also noticed that Keola always tried to stay next to his fiancée.

By the 18th week of pregnancy, Alhanna felt severe back pain that made it hard for her to walk. Worried that something was wrong, Ricky immediately took his pregnant fiancée to the hospital for a check-up. Here, the doctor found nothing unusual with Alhanna. They told the couple that Alhanna’s back pain was caused by the weight of the baby in her womb. Alhanna believed the doctor and returned home.

As soon as she got home, Alhanna sent a text message to her friend to share her condition and was advised to trust Keola’s instincts. Although the doctor said there was nothing unusual, the animal must have sensed a hidden problem.

Alhanna’s mother also encouraged her to go for another check-up because she believed there must be a reason for Keola’s behavior. After a series of tests, Alhanna discovered that she had a serious kidney issue, a condition caused by bacteria that moved from the bladder, and her health was in a very dangerous stage.

Alhanna immediately entered treatment to stabilize her condition. A few weeks later, the treatment ended successfully before she gave birth to her first son, named Lincoln. When mother and baby returned home, Keola was already waiting and ran to greet his new little friend. Now, Alhanna believes that the animal knew early on that her well-being and her child’s were in danger when she was pregnant.

Over time, Keola became much more attached to Lincoln and the child was never afraid of the animal’s presence. Lincoln slept more easily when Keola was around and the dog loved to nuzzle him gently. Keola cared for baby Lincoln as if the child were part of his own family.
