A Father and Son’s Gentle Embrace Helps Fragile Twins Grow Stronger

The father and son snuggle with the newborns as part of a “revolutionary” practice meant to regulate a baby’s body temperature and help them breathe better.

The touching snap shows the father and son laid out next to each other, with a baby each snuggled on their chests.
Both groups advocate the use of skin-to-skin therapy for prematurely born babies and claim this is a better practice than placing them in an incubator.

They say placing the baby on their parent’s chest regulates its body temperature better than an incubator and helps the baby to breathe better.

It is also believed that exposure to the parent’s bacterial flora – compared with hospital bacteria – reduces the risk of serious infections in the vulnerable tots.

The translated post said: “I love this picture of big brother helping his dad care for the twins.

“Swedish Professor Uwe Ewald, came to Hvidovre hospital to talk about his revolutionary practice, where even very small premature babies are taken out of the incubator to be skin to skin with their parents as much as possible.

“The child becomes more calm and gains weight faster.

“Research shows that parents bacterial flora – compared with hospital bacteria – reduces the risk of serious infections in these delicate children.”

Beth Eady said: “I want this to be my job. Come into nice, and snuggle babies when their moms and dad’s need a break to go get some sleep, shower, eat, etc. I want to be a professional baby snuggler.”

Olivia Derwent said: “Finally a medical professional talking some sense.

“Surely it’s common sense considering they should still be in a nice warm squishy inside of the womb so being skin to skin is obviously way better than alone in a plastic box linked up to lots of machines.”
