At the bottom of the cliff, the mama dog begged to save her newborn puppies

We were walking along a dangerous mountain path when a driver called us, asking for help for a mother dog. An hour later, we arrived at the location he had described. The road was treacherous, with deep cliffs on either side. They told us that the mother dog and her puppies were here.

We called out loudly, hoping for a response—and finally, we saw them. The little family was lying there in fear, with the mother trying her best to protect her tiny, fragile puppies. Beside them, there was some water and an empty food box. We wondered—had someone abandoned them here on purpose?

Reaching them was difficult. There was no safe path down, and we were afraid the mother might run away or even bite us. Every move we made was carefully watched by her suspicious eyes, as if she was trying to read our intentions. In the end, we decided to climb down despite the danger.

To our surprise, the mother dog was not aggressive at all. She remained lying with her puppies, hugging them tightly, even allowing my teammates to touch her. It was clear that she was starving. She needed food to produce milk for her puppies. She ate every bit of food we gave her and even let me touch the little ones. Surely, she knew we were there to help.

The puppies were still so young, their eyes not even open yet. What would have happened if they had been left there any longer? One by one, we carried them up. It felt like a race against time. Finally, my teammate managed to coax the mother to follow, and we brought the whole family safely to the veterinarian.

The doctors were ready to welcome them. We suspected that this mother dog was Rita—the same one who had been hit by a car and suffered a fractured pelvis. But when had that accident happened? Her body was covered in ticks, and she looked so weak, as if she had been washed away by water. The vets examined her carefully. Surgery was no longer an option, as her broken bones had already formed scar tissue. All we could do now was rely on medication and antibiotics to help her heal.

Meanwhile, the puppies grew stronger. They opened their eyes, started to play with toys, and became curious about the world around them. Formula milk was essential for their growth. We only wished for them to be happy as they grew up.

The doctor assured us that Rita didn’t need surgery anymore. With proper medication, she would recover. And indeed—happiness finally came to Rita and her babies. The puppies were adopted into loving homes, and Rita herself found a warm family full of love. Now, you can always see joyful smiles on their faces.
